In an age when people are more tax-resistant than ever, the citizens of Youngsville stepped forward in November 2011 to approve a one-cent sales tax dedicated for the purposes of constructing a place where sports tournaments can be held, kids can play and people of all ages can engage in activities together. The land itself will be donated by one of the most community-committed businesses in the city, Young’s Industries.
The plans and design were approved by the Youngsville City Council in February, state grants have been applied for and a decision on those is expected in April. The City plans on forging ahead with the new sports complex regardless of the outcome of grant approval and the project is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2014.
