America’s WETLAND: Campaign to Save Coastal
Louisiana
Over the next three years, the State of Louisiana
will work to raise public awareness of the impact Louisiana’s
wetland loss has on the state, nation and world and will gain
support for efforts to save coastal Louisiana. In the largest,
most comprehensive public education initiative in its history,
Louisiana launched America’s WETLAND: Campaign to Save
Coastal Louisiana, with an initial three-year effort announced
by Governor M.J. “Mike” Foster, Jr. at the Southern
Governors’ Association’s annual meeting in August
2002. The campaign will establish the values and significance
of this vast world ecological region and will highlight the
pending economic and energy security threat posed to our nation
by its destruction.
