1-2-08 UPDATE
You can help control the costs for water and sewage bills. You
can reduce labor costs by attaching your monthly bill stub to your
payment. This seems like such a simple task, but when a payment
is received without the payment stub, your City Hall staff must
do some detective work to insure that your account is properly
credited. With the stub, it takes about ten seconds to process
your payment. Without your stub, not only does the time to
process your statement increase significantly, the likelihood of
a mistake is amplified greatly. We all know the significance
of labor costs today. By including the stub with your payment,
you are helping to control labor costs, while reducing the probability
of errors.
Louisiana Public Service Commission
requires new documentation on Youngsville Entergy consumers’ monthly
bills.
The City of Youngsville has been notified
by Entergy that their Youngsville customers will see a new line
item on their monthly bills. Prior to this change, Entergy
paid the City of Youngsville a Franchise Fee that was not specifically
identified on the Entergy customers’ bills. As directed
by the Louisiana Public Service Commission Docket No. R-27859,
Entergy is now required to include a line item which specifies “municipal
franchise fee”. This does not represent an increase
in the cost to the consumer, but identifies the fact that
a portion of the billing does include this fee.
The City of Youngsville removes
brush and tree limbs (6” in diameter or less) and converts
them into recycled mulch.
Beginning in January,
2008, the City of Youngsville will remove brush and tree limbs
(6” or less in diameter). This material will be fed
into a chipper which will convert it into mulch. The mulch
will be available FREE to all Youngsville residents, thus
recycling this material instead sending it to a land fill. Initially,
you can call City Hall to see if there is enough mulch available
for your use. After this program has been underway for
a while, those calls will no longer be necessary. Citizens
will be able to pick up all the mulch they want at the Public
Works Department building, 310 Railroad Street.
Keep in mind that brush and tree removal is limited to items
that are no larger than 6” in diameter. If a property owner
cuts a larger tree down, it is the property owner’s responsibility
to have the remains removed. The city will not remove brush
or trees that are larger than 6” in diameter.
Trash pickup of white goods subject to EPA limitations.
If
you need to dispose of small appliances, you must first remove all refrigerants
and chemicals that would be harmful to the environment. This includes
the chemicals and active mechanisms of microwave ovens, air conditioners, refrigerators
and freezers. Similarly, paint should not be disposed of in your weekly
trash pick up. Anything that would harm the environment should not be
placed in a land fill and thus not included in the weekly trash removal in
Youngsville. A partial list of these items includes; electronics,
batteries, paint, chemicals, oil, oil filters, and tires.
Waste Management Inc. will not pick up any of these items unless
they have been rendered harmless and tagged accordingly. The
refrigerants and harmful mechanicals can be removed by private
service companies. These companies provide the required
documentation and tags that will allow Waste Management to remove
these items from our streets.
Christmas Tree Recycle
On January 7 and January
8, the City of Youngsville will be picking up Christmas Trees for
recycling to the beaches and marshes of Louisiana. These trees must be natural growth only – no
artificial trees and no “frocked” trees, please. Remove
all decorations and leave these trees by your drive, or drop them
off at the Youngsville Public Works building, 310 Railroad Street.
